Jeffrey Skelton

Jeff Skelton has been an investor, partner and advisor to financial-services firms for more than 30 years. Jeff’s role in Merian is as an advisor and board member to portfolio companies, helping to develop strategy and build leadership teams.

Prior to joining Merian, Jeff was co-founder and managing partner of Resultant Capital Partners, a long-short equity investment manager. From 1994 to 2009 Jeff was the founding partner and CEO of Symphony Asset Management. During his tenure, Symphony grew from a long-short equity startup to a $10 billion alternative-investment firm investing in public and private securities and venture capital. The firm’s venture investments included Ecrio, Innopath, Accent Optical, Paxonet, Vianeta, Ample Communications, Tiara Networks and Carrier9. In the decade prior to Symphony, Jeff was with Wells Fargo Nikko Investment Advisors where he served in a variety of roles, including chief research officer, vice chairman, co-chief investment officer and CEO of Wells Fargo Nikko Investment Advisors Limited in London.

Jeff has been a director of Prologis Inc. since 2011 and chairs its executive and governance and nomination committees. He was a director of a Prologis predecessor company, AMB Property Corp., from 1997 to 2011 where he served as lead independent director.  Jeff is a life member of the Visiting Committee for the Humanities at the University of Chicago and a former trustee of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation.

Jeff has a PhD in mathematical economics and finance and an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BS from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was an assistant professor of finance at the University of California at Berkeley, Walter A. Haas School of Business from 1979 to 1984.
